Churches are starting to install ATM machines, so 'worshippers' can make their donations electronically, instantly, into the 'plate'.
If you suffer from the "if only-ies," you will never get anything done.

Maurice Merleau-Ponty postulated a sort of reverse monism; his phenomenology broke down the object-subject distinction in a way that reminds me of the Hindu concept of Atman-Brahman..but substituted physicalism for idealism

Downfall

The Colonial powers were probably mortally wounded in the aftermath of World War Two, yet they stubbornly clung to 'Empire.'
1945 marked the defeat of institutionalized racism, and with India's independence in 1947, the nationalist genie was out of the bottle. The Dutch sought to contain revolts in Java, the French tried to put down the Algerian and Indochinese rebellions, while the Brits fought the Malay. But the final death blow came in 1956, with the Suez crisis- Egyptian president Nasser announced plans to nationalize the Suez Canal. Britain, France, and Israel tried to stage a convoluted intervention, designed to seize the canal and neutralize Nasser. But President Eisenhower intervened, partly out a fear of provoking a wider war, and forced the Brits and French and Israelis out of Egypt- Ike had threatened to sell off the U.S. reserves of British Pounds, which would have destroyed the British economy. The 'Colonialists' retreated. England instantly realized the severity of the decision to capitulate, and never again acted contrary to US policy. France reacted by isolating itself from, and would forever afterwards oppose, America. Inspired by Nasser's 'victory,' third word peoples everywhere stampeded towards independence- most were free by 1961. The rest of the century belonged to the US and the Soviet Union. (Eisenhower later said this was his greatest mistake- he severely weakened two major friendly countries during height of the Cold War). But Colonialism was replaced by Neo-Colonialism- the World Bank and International Monetary Fund has waged a reign of terror over the peoples of the world, imposing strict 'conditionalities' upon its loans to governments, forcing them to cut basic social services, eroding overall quality of life indexes, and locking these nations into massive debt. These loans enrich a select few.

China currently 'owns' about 37% of America's debt. If ever they seriously disagreed with one of our foreign adventures, they could easily dismantle our economy by threatening to sell off the dollars and bonds they hold, collapsing our currency, the same way Ike bullied Britain in the Suez crisis of '56.

Incidentally, it was Ghandhi's nationalistic pacifism that mainly inspired Dr. Martin Luther King, and blacks in the US were spurred by the Colonial retreat out of Africa- notice how race riots and demands for political equality accelerated soon after the Suez Crisis and the independence of almost two dozen African states in 1960-1961.

'Liberals' in the US originally, and generally, did not support the incipient civil rights movements until their national convention in 1948, during Trumans term, and AFTER Roosevelt. This triggered the breakaway faction led by Strom Thurmond's Dixiecrats.
These many and varied events can to a certain degree be laid down to the immediate aftermath of the defeat of the Nazi regime in April 1945.

The arch-conservative Churchill was ousted a few months after victory over the Germans- Atlee's socialist government took over, and began implementing a broad based program that nationalized key sectors of the English economy, instituting 'craddle to grave' welfare legislation. Socialized medicine in England even endured Thatcher's reactionary junta, because it was just too popular and efficient a service. But due to the costs, it has eroded somewhat.

Exclusionary ?

The economist John Kenneth Galbraith wanted government to invest taxes in the development of people, to encourage the cultural and artistic growth of the individual; to increase the number of 'sophisticates' in society. For this he was branded by the right a 'paternalistic aristocrat.'

There are too many uncouth ignoramuses in the world, making life hard for the rest of us, burdening the planet. Either central authority takes measures to lift them up out of their degredation, or the masses need to be exterminated.

"We dont see things as they are, we see things as we are." - Anais Nin

"So far as we are human, what we do must be either evil or good: so far as we do evil or good, we are human: and it is better, in a paradoxical way,to do evil than to do nothing: at least we exist."
- T.S. Eliot

There seems to be an 'alien presence' on the internet.Tests run upon thousands of university computers show that there is an inconsistency of answers to the same question posed upon the same search engines, meaning that the Boolean logic law is being subverted. Quantum algorithmic computations are occuring that defy human intentions and programming.
Some major corporations use software that is able to determine whether or not a caller is agitated, based upon the manner in which the phone number was pushed- angry callers are then automatically redirected to special call centers.
This may be the beginning of the evolution of a self- organizing independent consciousness upon the internet, and eventually this entity may decide to eliminate its 'creators.' After all, ordinary sand exhibits complex internal quantum -algorithmic flux actions that might be binary, and sand was here before humans were. Maybe silicon based life forms have already decided to destroy the carbon based ones.......

Launched in 1972-3, the Pioneer probes are currently exiting the solar system, yet an unknown force is tugging at them,in defiance of all known physical laws. Why is their speed accelerating? Software glitches, fuel leaks, and all other possible explanations have been ruled out- scientists are stumped. For this event to be happening may mean that soon we will have to develop a whole new set of equations and physics, partly overturning Einstein and Newton .
Every national election about 3.5 million votes are never counted- they are termed "spoiled" and thrown into the garbage. Machines can't determine what these ballots indicate, but if human counters are given a chance, usually they can determine the intention of the voter. Another 2 million non-votes occur every election cycle- these are the votes that were never allowed to happen, when people are mistakenly kept from casting their ballot due to paperwork/computer errors.

Portends....

The Astrology currently used in the West was codified in Babylon a few centuries before Christ-and was based upon an Earth centered universe. The discoveries of Copernicus in the mid 16th century overthrew the Ptolemiac star system, making Astrology obsolete. ( Also- the charts made today are based upon an entirely different sky- the one of 300 BC).

The main idea: since events in the universe are assumed to be pre-determined by God, an observance of an event in one part of the universe might be able to inform us of another, more local, event. A scripture from Genesis gave weight to this concept- that God put lights in the sky not just to record the seasons (time), but also to give Man signs (signals).

Apologists claim that Astrology still has merit, even though we now know that the Earth is not the center of the universe- because, in a profound psychological sense, it still is.

I think that if the charts were updated, and reflected modern skies and knowledge, Astrology might contain SOME value.

Inconvenient

Last night i watched Al Gores "An Inconvenient Truth." Gore was Vice-President of the US for 8 years, and he did almost nothing to improve the environment during his tenure. Now , we are suppose to believe that he is on a crusade?.....
Through his friendship with Victor Chemynoridon (the Russian Prime Minister under the gangster Boris Yeltsin), he helped loot the former Soviet Union ... selling off the mineral resources of a once great nation to Wall Street goons.
At the end of the movie, Gore offered- nothing. No concrete suggestions as to how the individual can help make a difference.
While the science presented was convincing, the core issue was never presented- our socio-economic system is the culprit and needs to go away, (and ) there are too many people on the planet. (Gore made it look like the necessary changes could come from within the Beast).
Al Gore rolled over when the presidential election was stolen from him- machines couldn't count those hanging chads, but humans could, and later results showed that those disputed votes were about 57% for gore, and that would have given him victory- but he never demanded that all the votes be counted. After all, it was just a race between two frat boys, and just as in college, one team has to lose.....

"Wrongfully aiding the enemy" i.e., refusing to pledge loyalty to the Executive

Only the very seriously ignorant can claim that the United States is NOT a semi-fascist state.

With the passage of the Military Commissions Act, native American citizens can now be arrested and held indefinitely without trial. All that it takes is for one to be labeled an "unlawful enemy combatant." Appointed review board-tribunals, designed by the Department of Defense, will do the rubber-stamp labelling. The language of the law is so broad, that most petty crime, like squatting and vandalism, can now be construed as being detrimental to the Executive branches "War on terror," and thus can cause one to be labeled an enemy of the state. The new law allows the use of hearsay evidence, and the accused cannot confront their accusor. The law even 'threatens' the courts to back off and not challenge the legality of the new law... As the administration busily builds new domestic detention centers for the internment of citizens who will soon be deemed 'insufficiently loyal' to the prez..

Almost the entire Bill of Rights has been destroyed, with very little news coverage from the national press. The vote was mainly along party lines-guess which party voted overwhelmingly for this 'enabling act.'

Sub-section 27 of section 950v. of the new law specifically targets domestic bloggers who propagate information 'harmful' to the interests of the U.S. government, allowing such bloggers to be classified as "enemy combatants."

Tears...

Most biologists consider Madagascar to be the priority land region on Earth that needs protecting. Madagascar is the worlds fourth largest island, off the south-east coast of Africa. The flora and fauna there evolved in isolation, so 85% of its species cannot be found anywhere else. The only wild lemurs are here, which are probably very remote ancestors of humans.

Extreme Poverty forces farmers to cut down the forests at an alarming rate, to use the land for cattle grazing and the growing of crops. Then the productive topsoil is blown away, and the cycle of destruction begins again. Almost all of the forest will be destroyed soon unless the president declares and enforces a tree- cutting moratorium.

Recently, nickel and cobalt have been discovered in such large amounts that even conservationists support its exploitation- in the hope that the revenue thus produced can/will be used to create and protect new national parks.

Absolute

Adi Shankara was the greatest Hindu theologian (788- 820 ad ?). His system is called Advaita Vedanta (non-dualism, or monism).
Only Brahman(the absolute) is real,Brahman is the only truth. There is ultimately no difference between Brahman and the individual self(atman).

One should live experientially, all of ones life, in order to realize this truth.

But the only renunciation necessary to abtain liberation, is 'inner' renunciation, 'doer-ship' (not a popular idea).
If i am Brahman, then.....

"Yea are Gods, and know it not"
-Jesus of Nazareth
Thoughts as merely side-effects of neurons, DNA? But this doesn't accurately account for our internal, subjective states....

Fourfold system: Prudence, Temperance, Fortitude, and Justice (Plato), adopted by Catholicism, and added...

Faith, Hope, and Charity, giving the ethical system an otherworldly focus .
America, love it (my way) or leave it (to me). This is the only country in the world where you hear such sentiments. Nowhere else does anyone expect you to agree with your countries policies, and if you don't, then you should uproot your life, leave your family and friends, and depart forever into a strange land.

" Not to oppose error is to approve it; and not to defend truth is to suppress it; and indeed to neglect to confound evil men, when we can do it, is no less a sin than to encourage them."

Pope St. Felix 3rd.

Boom!

North Korea has tested a nuclear device. So what? Don't countries have the right to defend themselves? North Korea has received nothing but threats from the US for over 12 years... they apparently have learned the lesson of Iraq : if you don't have WMD, you get invaded. If you have WMD, then maybe you stand a chance.

About 25% of Americans suffer from malnutrition...we have millions of homeless people dying in the streets, almost half of whom are veterans... we couldn't even drop water bottles down to thousands of desperate Katrina victims in New orleans, yet we argue that the North Koreans wastefully develop weapons while their population starves?

A collapse of the North Korean regime is the last thing the South Koreans want- they saw what happened when Germany united. The potential financial cost of reunifying terrifies Seoul.

By July 1945, Japanese Emperor Hirohito had started peace negotiations with the US via the Soviet embassy- President Truman knew this, yet he still decided to drop the Atomic bomb on civilian targets in Japan. Over 100,000 died, making this event the single worst instance of state-sponsored terrorism in human history (even surpassing the allied fire bombing of Dresden, i think ).

Some Appalachian values: sense of humor, modesty, patriotism, love of place, family solidarity, neighborliness,

1900-

About the turn of the century Georges Sorel was a divided and evolving man, who, over the course of his life, offered several distinct solutions to the political crisis - his Syndicalist approach being the most familiar. The workers should organize into Syndicates, councils that would eventually take over the functions of the state, then they should initiate a "General Strike," guided by a 'creative myth.' Originally a Monarchist, he ended up having a tortured relationship with Italian fascism and the Bolsheviks in Russia. "Direct Action " was to be the means, worker self- management was the end.

The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) sought a universal union of all workers- they were called the wobblies, and they still exist today.

Every year every member of the workforce should go on strike all at once, for one day (May 1?). Gradually, they could expand the strike over time, and demand a 30 hour work-week, the abolition of all rents, and cancellation of all debts. Relief societies could be formed to aid the striking workers throughout the anticipated hardships, as the duration of the strike lengthens each year. Eventually, the strike will endure long enough to threaten the very existence of the economic order, and the bosses and bankers will have to submit to the will of the majority.

Testament

Evola and Guenon urged rebellion against modernity, wanting intellectual reform of Western Civilization. The hypothesis that humanity once possessed a sure knowledge and tradition and method of self- actualization....but the last few centuries have severed Man from his spiritual inheritance, leading to the current crisis and decline- this hypothesis seems true. Nobody has any living heroes anymore, almost half of the populace is medicated and in therapy, unable to live their own lives unless some doctor or celebrity or confidante tells them what to do. 25% of Americans have no friends. The scientific age has removed the mystery from life, replacing it with 'problems' and 'solutions.' We no longer can distinguish between our wants and needs, we confuse having with being...Evola saw the need for a new order, a revival of the traditional wisdom, organized by the few at the twilight of Kali Yuga ...Ghibelline in form, a sacred warrior caste patterned after the Templars or Samurai...initiates imbued with the black fire of gnosis, self-deified through ceremony and ritual absolute, and not merely spiritual. (Contrast with Pareto and circulation vs. degeneration) Total social equality is illogical.

Yeats sought to dwell in both worlds, he developed formulae for contact (A Vision,1925) .."In early Byzantium, maybe never before or since in recorded history, religious, aesthetic, and practical life were one, that architects and artificers....spoke to the multitude and the few alike. The painter, the mosiac worker, the worker in gold and silver, the illuminator of sacred books, were almost impersonal, almost perhaps without the consciousness of individual design, absorbed in their subject matter, and that (of) the vision of a whole people." Ultimate Interdisciplinary Inductions

Nobel prize winner E.O. Wilson set off a firestorm of controversy in the 1970's with his Sociobiological theory- the idea that genes determine our behaviors much more than the environment does. He concluded that we have very little free will, that there is no such thing as a tabula rasa; 'culture' was fixed according to inexorable genetic influences designed to enhance mental development.

Lately E.O. Wilson has made a serious attempt to unify all the fields of knowledge, including artistic and religions ideas- "Consilience." This attempt is based upon the conviction that the world is a unity, governed by a few discoverable laws.

For the last 200 years Reductionism has been the rule- i.e., everything can be broken down into managable parts, to be studied by specialists. The 20th century is best characterized as being the primary century of acceleration and fragmentation. But many breakthroughs occur because an induction from one field is carried over into another discipline.. (example: government policies influenced by social and environmental scientists, cells (biology) explained in terms of their chemical properties, etc.).

Consilience attempts to end Reductionism, yet is similar in the sense that it feels that simplicity is the rule.

As British Colonial Secretary in the early 1920's, Winston Churchill created the artificial state of Iraq. He also urged the use of poison gas against the rebellious Arabs and Kurds- as a result of his efforts, thousands of noncombatants died from mustard gas attacks.
The ancient Greek playwright Aeschylus was killed when an eagle flying above mistook his bald head for a rock, and attempted to break open a tortoise it clutched within its talons by dropping it upon him. A soothsayer had told him years before that he would be killed by a "blow from the heavens."

Ivy League Treason

The Taliban are back- more than half of Afghanistan is theirs. Mushariff has signed a treaty with Waziristan province in Pakistan: Al Qaeda can now safely hide and rest there. We have lost control of Anbar province- its one third of Iraq, and we are digging a trench around Baghdad, even as total evacaution plans are being put into place. Our intelligence community- all 16 agencies- agree: Mr. Bush is the number one recruiter for Jihadists and terrorists, due mainly to his bungled 'War.'

So Bush has created enemies where before none existed... he feels besieged and afraid. His authorization of torture, some of it sexual, upon innocent, uncharged Iraqis and Afghani's- men, women, and children...has been deemed illegal by his usually compliant friends upon the Supreme Court, and they were seconded by two Federal Judges ( who also condemned his domestic surveillance program). The Bush-Cheney team needed a solution- A congressional law making torture and widespread domestic eavesdropping retroactively legal, plus they needed immunity from any and all war crimes that they may have ever commited- they got the law passed, pardoning themselves, but it was not enough. The Commissions law that passed the Senate on thursday effectively ends the American idea of due process-it is quite similar to Hitler's Enabling act of 1933-some of the phraseology is identical- the new law allows the President to arrest any American that is labeled an "unlawful enemy combatant." The main problem with this legislation is that the criteria necessary for one to be labeled this way is absurd- the accused can merely be "insufficiently loyal" to Bush and his henchmen ( by the standards of the new law, it seems Bush himself could technically qualify as someone subject to arrest). After you are thus labeled, you can dissappear forever- no charges, no trial, and possibly plenty of torture. (Right now, many Katrina survivors are being held against their will in FEMA shelters. Hallibuton recieved 375 million from Congress this year to build new domestic detention centers. The new law also states that it is even beyond the reach of the Courts- it cannot be challenged).

The Washington Times ran a front page story about even more serious allegations (June 29,1989)- involving teenage male/female prostitutes making midnight trips into the Oval office)...An Omaha Nebraska grand jury once investigated whether or not key lobbyists and the most highly placed politicians in the country were involved in organized human trafficking of women and children for purposes of sexual slavery-(1990).The case was eventually dismissed, but afterwards evidence surfaced that probably would have swayed the grand jury- in a subsequent civil judgement, the subject of the inquiry(Lawrence King) was forced to pay one of those that he allegedly abused-(Bonacci)- 1 million dollars in compensation (Feb.1999)... (the Johnny Gosch story may involve the upper echelons of power via fundraiser/banker-activist Lawrence 'Larry' King...Johnny's mother Noreen continues her crusade for justice-... former director of the CIA William Colby wrote the preface to Bonacci's attorney's- Mr. DeCamp- expose book-). Halliburton and Dyncorp have already been exposed as being involved in human trafficking in the Balkans during the 1990's, yet our government rewarded them later with generous contracts, basically the current war itself. Then we set up rape camps-Abu Graib; which was a far worse scandal than what the American people were allowed to see or believe ( the torture was often sexual in nature, directed against all ages and both sexes, upon the known -to -be- innocent, and was authorized by the White House, where allegedly 'tapes' of said torture were delivered, for private viewing). These sordid events and others caused the late Pope John Paul 2nd. to wonder aloud if maybe Bush was the long awaited and dreaded Anti-Christ, because Bush seemed to practice a crude 'Christian'/Satanist blood cult...
The extreme sadism of our leaders is evident- a contrived war that has killed over 50,000 children, and has weakened our nation. We have a 'family values' President and Vice-President without any shame, pity, or shred of human decency.

"There is no week nor day nor hour when tyranny may not enter upon this country-if the people lose their confidence in themselves-and lose their roughness and spirit of defiance."

American Indians could not comprehend the white mans greed. Indians were taught to share everything, they were not selfish; and some tribes went so far as to make the accumulation of wealth a source of shame, to be remedied by a ceremony where the individual in question divested himself of most of his belongings (the Potlatch)

Contrast with : The Masai tribe in east Africa- status revolved around how much cattle you had.

The Left-out

The horrors of Industrialization spawned many socialist schemes meant to remedy the abuses. Capitalism had become a living hell for the majority of people, with 70 hour work weeks, child labor, and unsafe, filthy work conditions. Marx was probably the most successful socialist, devising a complex and persuasive theory of commodity fetishism, alienated labor, history, and exploitation. After the Russian revolution (1917),the political parties of the left cleaved in half-those that sought piece- meal reforms through parliamentary procedure became the socialists and social democrats, and those that sought violent revolution became communists (usually both groups used Marx's books and ideas). After rival parties were banned in Russia, then rival factions within the ruling party, the stage was set for the Iron Law of Oligarchy to do its worst- it did.

The (mostly) democratic left couldn't understand why capitalism continued, and even seemed to thrive, after the shock of economic depression and two world wars. So in the late 1950's many communists adopted the ideas of Antonio Gramsci(hegemony-Eurocommunism).What was thought to be necessary was a broad based cultural shift, and thus the 'New Left' was born. It sought to incorporate the disparate social movements (feminism, environmentalism, etc. at the expense of the original pro- labor orientation). The party became bourgeoisie, attempting to broaden, and updating, its appeal. As a result, the majority of communist parties around the world today have devolved into veritable corporate entities, having little, if anything, to do with creating a "Workers State." (The Western economies thrived due to the implimentation of socialist measures- minimum wage, old age pensions, the GI Bill in America, and Atlee's nationalization program in Britain....,)

The Left got caught up in civil rights issues, because of historical necessity. After the defeat of Nazi Germany, all of the Colonial powers were exhausted. India, guided by Ghandhi and Nehru, broke free from Britain in 1948. This was the signal to all third world peoples- soon, most of the Colonial territories achieved (quasi) independance from their Colonial capitalist masters.
Franz Fanon, an Algerian physician-activist, wrote detailed analyses of the relationships of the exploiters toward the exploited (1960). So, civil rights became part and parcel of 'Leftism.' (Contrast:Roosevelt in the 1930's had almost zero impulse to specifically help the Negroes). A general degeneration later occurred- the Left, while pushing unfair or faulty policies like busing or quota's, has seemingly forgotten about the material conditions or plight of the working man. (Examine the result, not the lofty rhetoric).

Marx saw human nature as flexible, and basically neutral, while a later follower, Sartre, saw humans as quite depraved.

Incidentally, the rebel Zapatista's in Mexico, and Chavez in Venuezeula, are waging war against what they term "Neo-Liberalism," harking back to the old 19th century Adam Smith-Ricardo style Liberalism, which has been reformulated within the monetarist economic model.
Classsical 19th century Liberalism advocated the virtues of private property, a laissez-faire market economy, and the legally enshrined rights of the citizen. Liberals usually defined themselves in opposition to socialists and communists, and later, totalitarianism and collectivism. 'Liberals' prevented a communist takeover of Germany in 1919, by murdering Rosa Luxemburg. 'Liberals' may have prevented a military coup or communist takeover of the United States, during the Depression of the 1930's (Roosevelt and his New Deal inspired people to struggle on,he gave them hope, even if his policies didn't work very well). Gradually, Liberalism began to believe that government should assume more and more responsibilties, due in part to pressure from other factions (to steal socialist thunder, and dilute their argument/appeal).

As Liberalism began to disentegrate in the US in the 1970's, what eventually took its place was politically correct corporate, and corporate-inspired Pseudo-Liberalism. Democrats began to imitate the Republican party( the debacle in Chicago 1968 triggered their long decline) adopting most of its socio-economic program by the late 1980's. Extremist PC factions partly took over, arguing over silly things like the use of religious symbols in the courts, or whether or not fur should be banned, unaware that their ideas were concocted inside mega -corporate boardrooms. The best evidence of this can be observed in the rise of Bill Clinton- in Arkansas he was 'owned' by the chicken magnate Tyson, and as President for eight years he retained the monetarist Alan Greenspan as Chairman of the Federal Reserve. The primary focus during this time was to protect investors, mainly by controlling inflation in order to preserve interest rate gains on bonds and other certificates. The function of political correctness and focus on so-called 'social justice'issues is meant to deflect attention away from the fact that the Dems are almost identical to the Republicans, when it comes to the economy and, now, most current foreign and domestic policy. Both parties voted overwhelming in favor of the Patriot Act, the creation of Homeland Security, both voted for the illegal and unecessary war against Iraq, both have allowed our borders to be overun by millions of illiterate illegal immigrants, and both parties worked hard to pass the sovreignty shredding Nafta, Cafta, and WTO treaties and agreements, etc. Both parties are so one-sidedly in favor of Israel that Pat Buchanon once characterized congress as "Israeli occupied territory." Both are in and out of power periodically, and the net effect has been an erosion of civil rights, the continued degredation of the environment, and a much diminished middle class struggling to survive.
During Liberia's recent civil war, a special unit of female-only soldiers fought under the command of a 20 year old 'girl'- Colonel 'Black Diamond.' These 600 AK-47 toting, Gucci bag, red nail painted, and designer jean wearing women struck terror into the hearts of whoever they encountered. When men attempted to go through road blocks, they knew that if males were present, they had a chance of getting through- but if Black Diamond's unit was around, they knew they would be tortured and killed. Black Diamond's force was largely responsible for the success of the rebellion; she personally led the attack that captured the capitol of Monrovia.

'Nothing Dies'

J.W. Dunne had a precognitive dream in 1902- he forsaw the volcanic eruption on Mount Pelee, Martinique- and the dream included an accurate death toll. Thus began his experiments with dream-states and time.
In 1927 he published his findings: All Time exists simutaneously- we experience it linearlly due to the limitations imposed upon us by our consciousness. When dreaming, we can occassionally stop this serial experience and perceive all eternity- that's how we are sometimes able to have knowledge of the future.

" The present and the past
Are but perhaps present in time future
And the future contains the past"

T.S. Eliot, 'Four Quarters'

Dunne derived a concept of physical immortality from his ideas- if the past co-exists with the future, and time is unitary and eternal, then we always exist.

The Australian Aboriginal concept of the 'Dreamtime' is very similiar.
