Special projectors

Today, when we see old silent films, the action seems to be hurky-jerky or rapid; the actors motions seem hurried and odd....but the viewer in the 19-teens and 20's did not experience film this way- they saw normal speed movements and scene transfers on the screen. The new technology of today cannot show these old films the way they were originally meant to be seen- only the old discarded projectors can do justice to these gems of yesteryear. We will never recapture the original experience.

This seems to startle a lot of people- one of the reasons someone might be put off by old silent films is due to the quirky, fast motions they observe in the movie...But no-one back then ever saw anything odd about these films-these movies moved the action just like in real life-it is a pity that old films can never be adapted to the new machines ( & vice versa).
