'Chuck Bonnet syndrome' is a strange malady- people thus afflicted see vivid and realistic hallucinations-yet they are completely sane otherwise.

Psychiatry reports another oddity: 'Negative hallucinations.' This is when the individual selectively cannot see real objects around them. It would be as if you went to get in your car in the morning to go to work, but you simply couldn't see it, although everything else around you would still be present to your vision.

James Pike-Episcopal Bishop for California-1960's. Chain smoker, alcoholic, womanizer. Son killed himself. Pike experienced poltergeist activity. Forlorn, sought solace in gnosticism. Lost in Israeli desert, died in ravine, trying to make contact.
( I deleted my Pike post by accident- I'm trying to reconstruct it from memory).
